African American Read-In

African American Read-In In-Person

In honor of Black History Month, we invite YOU our customers and community members to participate in an African American Read-In on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Alief-Henington Regional Library.

The African American Read-In (AARI) is a groundbreaking effort to encourage communities to read together, centering on African American books and authors. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This initiative has reached more than 6 million participants around the world.

All ages are invited. If you are interested in reading, please send an email to monica.siboldi@houstontx.gov by Tuesday, February 14th.

Registration is required for readers and non-readers. Share your event photos with us on social media!
