Summer Reading with Frank Morrison In-Person
Join us as we welcome award-winning author and illustrator Frank Morrison for our Summer Reading Author series!
Frank Morrison started his journey as a graffiti artist in New Jersey, tagging walls with spray paint. However, it was the opportunity to tour with music artist Sybil as a breakdancer, an influential high school art teacher, and a visit to the Louvre Museum in Paris that opened him up to new artistic and creative avenues. He is now an acclaimed illustrator of many books including I've Got the Rhythm by Connie Schofield-Morrison, Little Melba and Her Big Trombone by Katheryn Russell-Brown, and R-E-S-P-E-C-T by Carole Boston Weatherford, as well as the author and illustrator of his own book, Kick Push.
Frank recently received the 2023 Corretta Scott King Award for illustrations in Standing in the Need of Prayer by Carole Boston Weatherford.
Registration is required and will open two weeks before the event. Every member of your group must be registered.
If you are interesting in registering a group such as a school or summer camp, please contact HPL.YouthServices@houstontx.gov (if possible, before registration opens).
