Cultural Connections at HPL: Virtual Author Visit from Leslie Contreras Schwartz Online
In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, you're cordially invited to join us for the virtual author visit featuring the 2019-2021 Houston Poet Laureate and author, Leslie Contreras Schwartz! She will be involved in a moderated conversation regarding her award-winning memoir, From the Womb of Sky and Earth. This memoir will focus on motherhood and the harsh topics of abusive relationships, trauma, and violence and makes a positive transition to friendship and power. This event will be livestreamed on Houston Public Library's Facebook and YouTube pages on Tuesday, October 2, 2024, at 6:00pm.

About Leslie Contreras Schwartz
Leslie Contreras Schwartz is the 2021 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow, the 2019-2021 Houston Poet Laureate, and the author of the 2022 C&R Press Nonfiction Prize Winner From the Womb of Sky and Earth, a lyrical memoir. She has published four collections of poetry and teaches at Alma College’s MFA program in creative writing and is a faculty member at Stanford’s Continuing Education Memoir Certificate program.
