Get to Know an Architect: John S. Chase Online
As we celebrate Black History Month, let’s turn to the field of architecture and the man associated with so many “firsts”- John S. Chase. He was the first African American to graduate from the University of Texas School of Architecture and the first Black licensed architect in Texas. HHRC is honored to house over 200 sets of his drawings. Let’s explore his prominent buildings, most notably at Texas Southern University, and how YOU can use the resources at HHRC to get to know the trailblazing architect, John S. Chase!
