Practice English and Connect with New Friends!

Want to improve your English-speaking skills while staying informed about current events? Join our FREE Conversational English Class at the Houston Public Library!  Our conversational English language learning program offers easy-to-read news stories that help you learn to read, write, and speak in English. Every week, learners get a variety of high-interest articles in simple English from trusted sources like The Associated Press and The Washington Post. All content is carefully designed to make it simple, accurate, and engaging for adult learners to practice English language skills.  This class is free and open to everyone, no matter your background or English level.

  • Practice Real Conversations: Discuss the latest news and learn to express your opinions confidently.
  • Expand Your Vocabulary: Learn new words and phrases through engaging articles.
  • Engage in Discussions: Share your thoughts with others in a supportive group setting.
  • Improve Fluency: Strengthen your pronunciation and natural speaking skills.
