German-Americans in Houston: Immigration, Legacy & Historic Achievements In-Person
Join us for German Heritage Month and discover the incredible journey of German-Americans, German-Texans, and Houston’s GermanTown—from their first immigration waves to the remarkable impact they had on Texas and the United States. Learn why thousands left Germany to build new lives in America, how many settled in Texas, and the lasting influence they made on our culture and history. This program explores how German-Americans contributed to the War for Independence, the Civil War, and beyond, while also shining a spotlight on famous German-Americans whose achievements shaped politics, science, music, and the arts.
Presented by Christean Wolfgang Kapp—a first-generation German-American, board member of the Houston Saengerbund for Public Outreach, certified member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and Space Ambassador with the National Space Society.
