Jazz & Java: Featuring Edmond Baker, Jr. In-Person

In observance of Jazz Month, join us for a wonderful time of dance, music, and fun at our Jazz & Java event at the Eva Alice-McCrane Kashmere Gardens Neighborhood Library.  We are pleased to have saxophonist Edmond Baker, Jr., aka Uptown Saxman, as our special guest. Baker was a nominee for the 2024 State Musician of the Year by the Texas Commission on the Arts. With over 30 years of experience in the music industry, he has performed all over the United States as an independent artist.

In addition to music, we will also have coffee and tea during the event, and local non-profit organizations will be on-site to provide resources for our attendees.

Registration for this event is encouraged but not required.

About Edmond Baker, Jr.

Edmond Baker, Jr., known as the “Uptown Saxman,” is an award-winning saxophonist celebrated as one of the top musicians in the United States. Born and raised in Brazoria, Texas, Edmond discovered his passion for the saxophone at age nine during a gospel concert—a moment that set the course for his life’s purpose. Despite limited formal training and early challenges, he persevered, guided by his motto: “Never give up on your dreams, because nobody can stop you but you!

In 2002, after personal hardships and a major life transition, Edmond shifted from church performances to corporate and private events, carving out a unique path as the only full-time, independent, solo saxophonist in Texas. Today, his music spans seven albums and is featured on major platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, YouTube Music, and SiriusXM Watercolors.

A Voting Member of the Recording Academy for the Grammy Awards, Edmond exemplifies faith, determination, and resilience. His soulful performances transcend cultural and language barriers, aiming to uplift and inspire audiences everywhere. For Edmond, music is not just a career—it’s a calling and a dream come true.
