America's 250: Women of the American Revolution In-Person

As part of America's 250, join the Houston Public Library and the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution for an engaging presentation on the Women of the American Revolution.

We know the stories of the men in the American Revolution -- George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Bernardo de Galvez, Lafayette, and others. But we don't often hear about the amazing women. Women played critical roles in the War for Independence but unfortunately the impact that ladies had on the revolutionary effort did not take center stage. These women were steadfast, dependable, and assisted in every way imaginable, even risking their own lives and fearing for their personal safety.

This presentation is sponsored by Ann Poage Chapter, NSDAR. Presented by Susan Adams, District V Director of the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Susan Adams is a fifth generation Texan and enjoyed a 23-year career at Exxon Company, U.S.A., and ExxonMobil Production Company. She joined the Sam Houston Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution in October 2008, and has held chapter positions of registrar, 1st vice regent, regent, and as a chair of several committees. She has served at the National level as Membership Committee vice chair and is a current vice chair for the Lineage Research Committee. At the state level, Susan is a member of the State Application Team and has been vice chair for several committees. She is a past state chair for membership, past state registrar, and is the current District V Director. Susan is the Wreaths Across America Location Coordinator for Fairview Cemetery in League City and a volunteer with Honor Flight Houston as well as the Senior Registrar for the Bernardo de Galvez Society, T.S.C.A.R. Susan is a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Descendants of the Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence, and the National Society Descendants of American Farmers.
