Fashion Fusion X: Inspired by Frida Kahlo In-Person

Fashion Fusion X: Inspired by Frida Kahlo features garments from the tenth anniversary of Fashion Fusion, an annual competition and runway show presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), and the award-winning Fashion Design program at Houston City College (HCC). This year, HCC students and alumni designed original outfits inspired by the MFAH's recent exhibition, Frida: The Making of an Icon, which was devoted to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's life and legacy.

The garments created by HCC's emerging designers were entered into one of four representative categories: Regenerate, Reimagine, Reengineer, or Reveal. The community tour showcases the winning outfits from the competition.

About the Fashion Design Program at Houston City College

The Fashion Design program prepares students for real work in the fashion industry. Through hands-on training in design, construction, textiles, and patternmaking, students build both creative and technical skills while working with faculty who bring industry experience into the classroom. From first concept to finished garment, the program emphasizes process, precision, and problem-solving so students graduate with a strong portfolio, practical experience, and the confidence to step into a range of careers across the field.
